After instructing the saints to live in line with the Gospel as good citizens of heaven, standing firm in one Spirit with one mind for the faith of the Gospel, he makes an impassioned appeal to obey as this directive as recipients of blessing from the Triune God. They have the support of Christ, the incentive of God’s love and the fellowship of the Spirit. Paul also calls upon the Philippians' deep affection and compassion for him that they might fulfill his joy by being of one mind.
