Marriage and the Mystery 8/6/2017

Ephesians

Throughout the book of Ephesians, Paul develops the theme of the mystery of God’s will. The mystery, hidden in times past but revealed with the coming of Christ, is that God purposed to bring all of creation to its consummation under Christ’s Lordship while redeeming a people, comprised of Jews and Gentiles, who would be united in Him as His bride. In Ephesians 5:31-32, Paul applies the mystery to the ordination of marriage in Genesis 2:24, declaring that the text speaks of to the union of Christ and the church. This means that God intended for human marriage to reveal this great redemptive truth.
