At the end the prayer in John 17, Jesus, who always addressed God as “Father,” refers to Him as “Righteous Father.” This is the only time in all of Scripture that these words are used together. God can be our “Righteous Father” only through the work of Christ. This designation points to the Gospel of salvation by which, through adoption, we become the children of the righteous and holy God.
