Conflict Resolution: A Family Affair 7/4/2021

Philippians

Contention between two prominent ladies in the Philippian church had disrupted the unity of that congregation. Paul urges these ladies to settle their differences, come to agreement and be of the same mind. The basis for their unity is their identity in the Lord. They are sisters in God’s family, united by the work of Christ and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Paul also encourages others in the body to help these ladies in taking hold of the situation and resolving their conflict. Unity in the body of Christ is not only a personal responsibility but the responsibility of the whole family of God. However, under no circumstances are genuine Christians to take their disputes to the outside world (1 Cor 6:1-8).
