One People in the Triune God 6/26/2016

Ephesians

As recipients of the grace of God, Paul says we should be eager the maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. However, Paul is not calling for peace at all costs. The unity he refers to is the unity of purposed by the Father, accomplished by the Son and applied by the Holy Spirit. There is only one body of Christ, assembled by one Holy Spirit which provides us with the one hope of our calling. There is one Lord who has achieved our unity and one faith in which we are united and one baptism by which we’re identified as the one body of Christ. There is one Father by whose purpose we are united. Our heavenly Father is sovereignly directing all things so that all of history will eventually be unified in Christ.
