To Live is Christ, to Die is Gain! 3/1/2020

Philippians

As the Apostle Paul writes to the Philippians, he is awaiting his trial before Caesar. Whether he lives or dies, his aim is for Christ to be magnified in his body. If he goes on living, it will be to Christ’s glory as he will be able to continue his ministry. If he dies, it will be to Christ’s glory for he will finally experience the fullness of the salvation our Lord wrought for all of His people. Paul is torn between which he prefers. However, in deliberation, he finally considers the needs of the Philippians above his own desire to be with Christ. The Apostle had learned the art of living well and dying well, leaving us an example to follow.
