In Phil 3:17, Paul encourages the saints to follow godly examples who live their lives in pursuit of Christ. This is an aspect of biblical discipleship to which all of God’s people are called. The Great Commission is not only to make disciples by teaching them all that Christ commanded but teaching them to observe all that Christ commanded. Through godly examples, disciples learn how Christ’s commandments are to be lived out in their own lives.
