The Curse of Barrenness 9/8/2013

While visiting the United Kingdom on a Reformation tour, I was saddened to learn of the state of the church in Scotland and England. As I looked at the beautiful buildings and heard about the vibrant congregations of past days, learning that many are empty or, as one UK Christian commented, "Those that are not empty are sometimes filled with people who are empty," I was reminded of Christ's cursing of the fig tree. However, as always, God has his remnant. While many are abandoning the church in that nation, those empty pews are making room for fervent Christians who are serious about their faith.
