Discipleship: To Know and Trust 9/28/2014

The Mission of the Church

Rabbis typically taught their disciples the intricacies of the Law and stressed the diligent performance in keeping the Law that they might be found acceptable before God. Jesus spoke far more about His own identity as Savior and His redemptive work on behalf of His people. To believe that one born in sin is capable of appropriately keeping God's Law or that God will accept a person's best efforts as righteous is an affront to God's holiness. Christian Discipleship is, first and foremost, knowing Jesus as Redeemer and trusting His atoning work.
