From Delusion To Renewal 9/11/2016

Ephesians

"Learning Christ" teaches us to "put off" the old man and “put on” the new. In essence, Paul is saying that, as the recipients of redemption, we should live in a manner consistent with our calling. Sandwiched between "putting off" and "putting on" we find "be renewed in the spirit of your mind (the inner man)." The behavior of the “old man” emerged from the "futility of our minds," which, in 4:22, Paul describes as "corrupt through deceitful (deluded) desires." Sinful desires promise everything but deliver nothing. We learn to live like the redeemed as our minds are renewed, delivering us from the delusions of sin that we might embrace the truth in Christ.
