Living Out our Salvation 9/25/2016

Ephesians

The first three chapters of Ephesians clearly proclaims that redemption is of the Lord; we contribute nothing to our salvation. But this does not mean that we can live any way we please. Christ saves us for Himself. We are commanded to put off the old man, be renewed in our minds and put on the new man. The only reason we can obey that command is because Christ has accomplished those very things for us. He put on our old man like a garment when He went to the cross. Our old man was crucified and buried with Christ. When He arose, He left the garments of our old man in the grave and was clothed in the robe of righteousness. His resurrection is the reason we can put on the new man. We wear Christ. His righteousness is ours. The Christian life is not about our achievements; it is about living out the salvation Christ attained for us.
