Even the Wrath of Man Shall Praise You 9/4/2022

Yet I Will Rejoice in the Lord: The Book of Habakkuk

As God tells Habakkuk His plans for judging Judah’s sin, the prophet is confused and distraught. Babylon is a wicked and violent nation that will treat their captives like animals. Habakkuk cannot see how a holy God could use the sinful Babylonians to accomplish His good purpose. However, the Lord’s sovereignty is so transcendent and complete that even the wrath of man shall praise Him (Isa 76:10). The supreme example of this is the cross in which, though wicked men crucified Jesus, they were doing only what the Lord’s hand and plan had predestined to take place (Acts 4:27-28). This was to the praise of His glorious grace (Eph 1:5-6).
