Elders, Priests, Countrymen, Lend Me Your Ears

Joel’s prophetic declaration of a chastening Day of the Lord for Judah begins with a command for the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to “hear” the Word of the Lord. Fallen humanity has ears but is deaf to the Truth. While God has opened the ears of His people, we are often dull of hearing. We are commanded to lend our ears, to pay attention to all that God says.
