Access to the Father 10/21/2012
Reformation 2012The Scripture is the revelation of Christ. It is His story, a story of redemption. Mankind was created to dwell in the presence of God but that was lost in the Fall. Under the Old Covenant, God manifested His presence in the Tabernacle, but the people remained separated from the presence by the veil. When Jesus died that veil was ripped into signifying the restored access that Jesus provided for His people. He ascended into heaven and returned to the manifested presence of God, blazing the trail for those who would come after Him. Over the centuries, the Roman Catholic Church gradually restricted that access through sacramental traditions. The Protestant Reformation was, among other things, a reclaiming of that full and complete access to the Father, not through some earthly mediator, but through Christ alone.
