The impoverished birth of Christ is just the first of many instances of His humiliation that puts to shame the wisdom of the world. Christ, the pauper prince, by his immaculate, perfect human life confounded every appearance of human wisdom. Christ's advent truly confounds the wise and he continues to do so today through many tragic events that appear to be only evil while God is actually accomplishing His good purpose.
