God did not create man for death but neither did he create him immortal. When Adam sinned, his disobedience brought death upon the whole human race. The Son became incarnate that, by His obedience, many would be righteous. He came to redeem His people from sin and death. Though death had no rightful claim on Jesus, He offered Himself as a sacrifice for our atonement. By submitting to death He defeated death, rising victoriously from the grave, securing eternal life for all the elect.
