After Anna observed Simeon's Song and prophetic proclamation, she offered her own song of thanksgiving. Her worship of God is especially inspirational and dramatic when you remember what she had endured in her lifetime. Born in a rare time of post-exilic independence for Jerusalem, she lived through four bloody sieges of the city, defilement of the Temple and civil war. Still, this woman of hope and faith continued to trust the Lord and look forward to the redemption of her beloved Jerusalem. After seeing the Christ child, she spread the news to the faithful who were patiently awaiting God's promised salvation.
