In Christ's call to discipleship (Mt 11:28-30), Jesus declares that His yoke is easy and His burden, light. Not only are the demands of Christ's teaching weightier than the heavy burden of the scribes and Pharisees (Mat 5:17 ff.) but discipleship to Jesus demands absolute loyalty, even over family and one's self (Luke 14:25-33).
