Christ’s prayer in John 17 reveals that all glory belongs to God for salvation is of the Lord. It is the purpose of the Father, accomplished by the Son. As a reward for the Son’s obedience, the Father chose a people to give to Him. Christ “manifests the Father’s name” (reveals the Father), not to everyone, but to the people the Father gives Him (17:6). This is confirmed, not only by Christ’s prayer, but throughout Scripture.
