In John 17, Christ says He does not pray for the world (the mass of fallen humanity as it organizes itself against God) but for those whom the Father has given Him. Christ is our Great High Priest who offers Himself as a sacrifice for our sin and represents us before the Father. Christ, who now sits at the Father’s right hand, is able to save us completely and forever because He perpetually intercedes for those who come to God through Christ.
