In John 17:25, Jesus addresses God as “‘Righteous Father.” In Scripture, the Father/Son dynamic has more to do with vocation and character than paternity. As Christians, we are adopted into God’s family through the work of Christ. Based on Christ’s righteousness, the Father is training us through the ministry of the Holy Spirit who illuminates our eyes to the Truth of His Word, renewing our minds and instilling His character in us. When we finally see our Lord face to face, this transformation will be complete and we will be the fully righteous children of our Righteous Father.
