Paul commands the saints to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” Despite this command, the Apostle is certain that our salvation will be complete (Phil 1:6). Our ability to “work out our own salvation" is made possible by the follow up declaration that it is God who indwells His people and works in them continually and effectually that they might have both the will and the ability to fulfill the Lord’s good pleasure.
