Satan has many schemes and methods for assaulting God’s people. Paul likens the attacks to blazing arrows which are intended not only to penetrate the target but engulf it in flames. Our defense against these assaults is our trust in God, the faith with which we receive the Gospel. When Satan attacks, we must remember that we are justified before God by belief in the truth. We must hold fast to the Gospel of grace by which the flaming arrows of the Evil one are extinguished.
