In John 14:1-6, Christ’s exchange with the disciples sheds light on the reason for His condescension and reascension. He came to rescue us from the deep, dark abyss of this fallen world of sin. He returned to heaven to open the way to the heights of glory that we might dwell in the Father’s house forever. In His first Advent, He came as the Prince of Peace to secure our redemption and He’ll return as the King of kings to receive us into glory.
