While Matthew and Luke record the birth of Christ from the perspective of earth, Paul (Philippians 2:6-11) and John (1:1-18) provide the perspective of heaven. While Jesus was conceived in Nazareth and born in Bethlehem, He descended from heaven where He temporally set aside His glory that He might be born in the likeness of men and take the humble form of a Servant. The wonder of Advent is that it was the Eternal God who came to us that He might bring salvation to His people.
