In chapter 3, we find a different Habakkuk than the prophet we met in chapter 1. His encounter with the Lord has changed him. He has been humbled and not only acknowledges the righteousness of the coming judgment but realizes that God is just in raising up the Babylonians to execute that judgment. Yet, he prays, “Lord, in this time of judgment, renew your work of redemption, make your will known and, in the outpouring of your wrath, remember mercy.
