In Ephesians 5:8, Paul tells us that before coming to Christ we “were darkness.” This means that we were not only in the realm of darkness but the darkness was in us. However, after being made spiritually alive (Ep 2:1-10), we are now “light in the Lord.” Again, we are not only brought into the illuminating Kingdom of Christ (who is the Light of the world), the light is in us through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
