The Great Commission was a radical proposition in the first century and remains so even today. The Jews would find the inclusion of the gentile offensive and the gentiles would be offended by the exclusive nature of salvation in Christ alone. The situation is not all that different today as people continue to resist the true Gospel through denial or compromise.
