In Ephesians 4, Paul tells us that walking worthy of our calling includes giving due diligence to maintaining the unity of the Spirit. In the context, we find that this unity originates with the work of the Triune God declared in the Gospel. There is no true unity with those who do not hold to “the faith once for all delivered to the saints.” We cannot maintain what God has not united. However, considering how Paul addressed particular issues of division in the various churches provides helpful guidelines for maintaining true unity.
