The hymn of Christ in Philippians 2:6-11 is a summary of the Gospel from Christ’s perspective. Humanity was created to image the gracious and generous God who had given them countless blessings. However, at the instigation of the devil, humanity succumbed to selfish ambition and empty conceit, reaching for that to which they had no right. God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son to redeem an unworthy people. Though all glory, laud and honor belonged to Christ, He humbled Himself and gave Himself for us.
