While the word "disciple" means learner or pupil, the biblical notion of discipleship is much different than contemporary American ideas of education or even apprenticeship. While popular notions of discipleship are often quite limited in scope, the biblical model includes knowledge, action and relationship, encompassing the whole of one's life.
