In support of his command to, in humility, count others more significant than ourselves, Paul sets Christ’s condescension before us as an example of that humility. We will never understand the insignificance of our supposed “greatness” until it is measured against the true greatness of Christ who, in humility, put the Father’s purpose and our salvation ahead of His own status and privilege. He descended from the highest heights to the lowest depths for our redemption.
