Walking by sight can offer no eternal hope. All we can see from living in this world is that we are born and die. If those who trust their own sight are consistent, it can only lead to despair or nihilistic hedonism. This is in essence what the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians. Without the revelation of the risen Christ, we would be of all men most miserable and the most reasonable course of action would be to "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die." However, those who embrace the promise of salvation by faith live with purpose.
