In Philippians 1:27, Paul not only calls the church to live as citizens of heaven in a manner consistent with the Gospel, he also uses a military metaphor to encourage God’s people to unite in holding the line concerning the faith of the Gospel. Empowered by the Spirit and unified in purpose, we are to strive, side by side in tenaciously holding our ground concerning the truths of Scripture on which the Gospel rests.
