Not Frightened in Anything 3/22/2020

Philippians

In Phil 1:27-30, Paul issues a “call to duty” for the citizens of heaven to stand firm, united in the Spirit, with one mind, striving side by side for the faith of the Gospel. He then adds, “not frightened in anything by your opponents.” The word “frightened” pictures "an uncontrollable stampede of startled horses.” “Anything” encompasses persons, entities and situations. It refers not only to direct attacks but circumstances devised by our opponents. Opponents refers to the world and anyone opposing the truth of the Gospel, including Satan. Paul is simply repeating the most frequent command to God’s people in all of Scripture, “fear not!"
