When the Apostle Paul tells the Philippians saints to “look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others,” he is not suggesting that we are free to pursue whatever we please as long as we help others pursue their personal interests as well. The interests of the Christian are defined by God, not our own fleshly desires. Determining the interests we are to look to requires the instruction of Scripture and spiritual wisdom to discern the details.
