The breastplate of righteousness protects our hearts from the condemnation of God’s holy Law, our own conscience and the accuser of the brethren.  This righteousness is the objective righteousness of Christ for our own righteousness is no defense at all.  The subjective aspect of this armor is our growth in grace as we are conformed to Christ’s image.
