In Ephesians 4:29, the Apostle Paul admonishes Christians to guard their mouths from corrupting talk. Language was created by God to reveal Himself and communicate the grace of life to those made in His image. In the Garden, Satan corrupted speech to accuse God and lead Adam and Eve in to rebellion resulting in death. Corrupting talk is speech that tears down instead of edifies. It is rotten speech that results in illness to the soul. God redeems speech in His people. We are admonished to build up the body of Christ with words of Spirit and life which are appropriate for specific situations. Our words should be a means of grace to those who hear them.
