In Christ’s prayer, He asks the Father to keep the disciples in His name but not to take them out of the world that hates them. God has a reason for leaving us in the world for a time. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we continue Christ’s ministry in the earth. Our lives are also to serve as a witness against the ungodly, either confirming their impending judgment or serving to draw them to Christ. Finally, God uses the trials, tribulations and persecutions for our sanctification. Though the world hates us, we are kept safe in the Father’s name.
