God’s declaration that “the righteous shall live by faith” has been called the watchword of Christianity and the central theme of the Scriptures. It was a clarifying declaration for Habakkuk, the Apostle Paul, and the 16th-century reformer, Martin Luther. Our righteousness is as filthy rages (Isaiah 64:6). The righteous are those upon whom, by faith, God confers the righteousness of Christ.
