Luke's description of Jesus' childhood is simultaneously ordinary and extraordinary. He portrays Christ's development in customary terms for human growth. However, the description is completely positive. This is consistent with the fact that Jesus was truly human yet sinless. Likewise, an appropriate understanding of the nature of Jesus as fully God and fully man provides insight into Luke's portrayal.
