When Christ gave His disciples the Great Commission, He first proclaimed that He has all authority in heaven and on earth. This would be offensive to most everyone. Jesus is not just the King of Israel but the King of Kings and Lord of lords. Caesar considered himself the king of kings with all authority in the earth. The claim to all authority in heaven means that He is superior to any celestial power. His claim to absolute authority also means that He reigns in spheres such as the human heart which are not accessible to human rulers.
