Before ascending into heaven, Jesus sends his disciples forth on a monumental mission. All things being equal, there is a low probability of success. But all things are not equal. Jesus, who has all authority in heaven and on earth, sends them forth in His name with assurance that His power will be with them. The effects of Christ's authority are clearly seen from the beginning as earthly rulers oppose the Gospel to no avail. This same authority remains with God's people today as we continue the Great Commission.
