In 1 Thess 1:9-10, Paul says the new believers had turned from idols to serve the living and true God and wait for Christ’s return. The waiting is an active expectancy of Christ’s second coming by living as a slave to our benevolent Master, serving Him out of love and gratitude for our Savior has saved us from the holy wrath of God that will be manifest at the end of the age. Whatever we must endure as we wait cannot begin to compare with the blessing of full redemption that will be ours when Christ comes again.
