Paul tells the Thessalonians saints that he consistently prays for the Lord to make them worthy of His calling. While we are commanded to live in a manner that’s worthy of God’s calling, the Apostle understands that it requires a divine work within. Praying for the Lord to accomplish in us what is commanded expresses our deep dependence upon Him, in recognition that apart from Him, we can do nothing.
