In this age of extreme individualism, many are offended by the Biblical call to be imitators of Christ and of Christians living lives worthy of emulation. However, God’s purpose is to conform us to the image of our Savior. The word translated “imitate” does not refer to mere outward mannerisms and behavior. We are not to impersonate godly Christians but learn from them the pattern of commitment and behavior consistent with those who belong to the family of God.
