In 1 Thess 5:15 and Rom 12:17, Paul says we must not repay evil with evil but rather respond with good. To take vengeance into our own hands is idolatry for God reserves this right for Himself. Overcoming evil with good is not a natural response. It requires renewing our minds on the Gospel and the inward working of the Holy Spirit.
