Paul admonishes the saints to no longer live as they did when they they were sons of darkness, sleeping in the night of spiritual ignorance and immorality. He encourages them to be alert and live well-balanced lives for they are now as sons of light, destined to obtain salvation through the redeeming work of Christ. In light of this election to salvation, which hails from eternity past, we rest in the blessed hope of our Savior’s return when we will receive the fullness of our inheritance.
