Many in the church in Thessalonica had been alarmed and shaken in mind by a false proclamation. Paul urged them to be not deceived. After explaining why the proclamation that had confused them was false, he told them how to avoid such pitfalls. We must stand firm and hold fast to the Word of God. The Gospel is our anchor and we must know it well. We must own it.
