In 1 Thessalonians 3:2, Paul refers to young Timothy as “God’s coworker in the Gospel of Christ.” The young minister is being sent to Thessalonica to find out how they are fairing under persecution and to strengthen and encourage them in the faith. Referring to Timothy as “God’s coworker” reminds us that God is the one who meets the needs of His people while graciously employing the saints as the vessels through whom He works.
